Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce cyclopentanedicarboxylic acid having slight discoloration in high yield without decomposition of a raw material by hydrogenating cyclopentadienedicarboxylic acid in water solvent.

CONSTITUTION: Cyclopentadienedicarboxylic acid is hydrogenated in water or a solvent consisting essentially of water to provide production of cyclopentanedicarboxylic acid.
