PURPOSE: To produce at a low rejection rate a decorative and protective braid which is lightweight, by dispersing a paste resin and a hollow filler in a liquid plasticizer, pouring the resulting plastisol into a mold and heating it to cause it to gel.
CONSTITUTION: Plastisol obtd. by dispersing a paste resin and a hollow filler in a liquid plasticizer is poured into a mold and heated to cause it to gel, thus obtaining a decorative and protective braid. Said paste resin is a fine polyvinyl chloride powder having a particle size of several μm or below. The hollow filler is a unicellular hollow sphere having an outer diameter of 5W200μ and composed of a thin-wall microballoon made of glass, silica, shirasu, sodium silicate or carbon. The ratio of the paste resin to the plasticizer is 100/40W100/100. When a braid having a specific gravity of 1.0 or below is to be produced, a ratio of the hollow filler to (plasticizer + paste resin) of 40/100W130/100 is preferred.
