Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a dial for a timepiece having superior ornamental properties by subjecting an Al dial for a timepiece to anodic oxidation, electrolytic coloring and lapping. CONSTITUTION:Al stock is worked into a dial for a timepiece and the dial is anodically oxidized in a conventional sulfuric acid bath to form an anodic oxide film on the surface. The dial is immersed in an electrolytic coloring soln. contg. a metallic salt and AC electrolysis is carried out to color the dial according to the metallic salt. The colored Al dial is treated in boiling water to seal the pores and the surface of the dial is smoothened by lapping. Thus, a color dial for a timepiece having superior ornamental properties is produced.
