This diamond sintered body is the one contg. substance composed of compounds contg. one or more kind of metals selected from iron, cobalt, nickel and manganese, silicon and oxygen by 0.1 to 30vol.%, and the balance diamond. As for the method for producing the diamond sintered body, using the silicate of metal selected from iron, cobalt, nickel and manganese as a sintering assistant, and this powder and diamond powder or non-diamond carbon powder or a powdery mixture of diamond and non-diamond carbon are mixed, which is held under the pressure and temp. conditions in the thermodynamic stable region of diamond and is sintered.
