Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing a high purity (cyclic) aliphatic diurethane especially suitable for producing a (cyclic) aliphatic diisocyanate by the thermal cleavage of a urethane and method for producing the diisocyanate by using the diurethane.

CONSTITUTION: In a method for producing a high purity (cyclic) aliphatic diurethane from a (cyclic) aliphatic diamine, alcohol and urea by a multi-process reaction, (1) urea and alcohol are reacted and ammonia is released and (2) a diamine is subsequently introduced into the reaction mixture optionally in a form of a soln. in alcohol to perform reaction while releasing ammonia continuously and (3) the reaction mixture is freed from volatile components by distillation. The diurethane produced by this method is used as a starting substance in the production of the corresponding diisocyanate by the thermal cleavage of the urethane.
