PURPOSE: To obtain Epidermal Growth Factor by a simple operation, efficiently, by subjecting a solution containing Epidermal Growth Factor to ultrafiltration with an ultrafilter having specific fractional molecular weight.
CONSTITUTION: A solution containing Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF for short) is subjected to ultrafiltration with an ultrafilter having ≤10,000, preferably 500W5,000 fractional molecular weight, to remove high polymer impurities. In the ultrafiltration, filtration rate and purification degree are raised. EGF is not passed through the ultrafilter, separated from the filtrate and concentrated. Heating during operation is not required and EGF is not deactivated. The filtration system can be repeatedly used and the treatment rate is extremely high.
