Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for efficiently producing high quality esterified products by preventing formation of gel-like substances to be generated in distilling a dehydrating solvent after the esterification reaction.
SOLUTION: This process for producing an esterified product comprises effecting the esterification reaction of an alcohol represented by the formula: R1O(R2O)nH (wherein R1 is a 1-30C hydrocarbon group; R2O is a 2-18C oxyalkylene group and, in this instance, the repeating unit of each R2O may be the same or different and when R2O is a mixture of at least two of them, the repeating unit of each R2O may be added blockwise or randomly; and (n) is an average addition molar number of the oxyalkylene group and is a number of 0-300) with (meth)acrylic acid in a dehydrating solvent. In this case, the step for distilling the dehydrating solvent after completion of the esterification reaction includes a step for allowing an anti-gelling agent to act on a distillate containing the dehydrating solvent.
