PURPOSE: To obtain the title fiber excellent in feeling and bulkiness, by slitting two or more layers of an expanded multilayered opened body, consisting of thermoplastic resins, having different melting points and containing a foaming agent, then twisting the slit opened body and drawing the twisted slit opened body at a specific temperature or below.
CONSTITUTION: Thermoplastic resins, such as polyethylene terephthalate, having different melting points are used to form an expanded multilayered film of two or more layers in which one or more layers contain a foaming agent, such as azodicarbonamide. The resultant expanded multilayered film is then drafted into an expanded multilayered opened body, which is then slit, subsequently twisted and drawn at a temperature of the melting point of the thermoplastic resin having the maximum melting point in the above-mentioned thermoplastic resins to afford the aimed conjugate fiber in high yield.
