Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce steel wire obtaining extra high tension without causing to deterioration of ductility by executing cold rolling, drawing work and hole die wire drawing with specific sectional reduction ratio to high carbon steel wire rod containing the specific content of Si, Mn in the main composition.

CONSTITUTION: The cold-rolling or roller-dies drawing is executed to the high carbon steel wire rod containing 0.60W1.0% C, 0.1W2.0% Si, 0.1W2.0% Mn as basic composition. Or, after this working, the hole die wire drawing at ≤40% the fractional reduction in area is executed. In this way, the extra high tension steel wire having excellent ductility, such as 250W100logD(kg.f/mm2) (here D: diameter mm of the steel wire) tensile strength is obtd. By using the steel wire obtd. by this method, breaking of wire at the time of wire drawing and wire stranding and working crack at the time of forming, and the breakage at the time of using are reduced.
