Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of unequal striped orientation in the direction perpendicular to a rubbing direction by subjecting a substrate to a rubbing treatment with at least two pieces of rollers varying in rotating speed from each other.
CONSTITUTION: While the 1st and 2nd rubbing rollers 101, 102 are kept rotated at the rotating speeds varying from each other, a stage 104 carrying the substrate 103 or the rubbing roller bodies move parallel and the surface of the substrate 103 is rubbed by the rubbing cloths 105 wound around the rubbing rollers 101, 102, by which the substrate is rubbed. Two pieces of the rubbing rollers 101, 102 constituted by winding the rubbing cloths consisting of nylon materials around the circular cylindrical rollers are prepd. in such a case and the rubbing treatment is executed in a prescribed form. Two sheets of the substrates are treated by specifying the rubbing conditions to 0.35mm pressing amt. of the rubbing cloths and the substrates and by specifying, as other conditions, the moving speeds of the substrates, the rotating speed of the 1st rubbing roller 101 and the rotating speed of the 2nd rubbing roller to prescribed values.
