Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the stability of oriented fibers by controlling the surface states of the fibers.
CONSTITUTION: An adsorbed film comprising a surfactant is formed on the surfaces of fibers as conductivity-imparting film insoluble in a dielectric liquid. The surface-treated fibers are dispersed and suspended in a dielectric liquid received in a container 23, and the suspension is injected into an electric field formed between an anode and a cathode 29. The fibers are electrostatically oriented in the direction of the electrodes and simultaneously entangled. While the dielectric liquid is discharged from a discharging member 6, the entangled oriented fibers are successively precipitated and collected to obtain a fiber- collected product 34.
