To improve the thermal efficiency and the production efficiency without needing reheating a cast composite member from the room temp. to solution heat treatment temp. by taking the composite member out of a die after casting and immediately exposing the composite member to the solution temp. atmosphere suitable to a matrix.
A fiber formed body 5 is set at the bottom part 3 of the die, and after clamping the die, molten Al alloy 6 pressurized with a plunger is filled up in a cavity to cast the composite member. The obtd. composite member is taken out from the die and immediately held in an oven set at 450-550°C matrix solution heat treatment temp. of the Al alloy for 30min-3hr. Successively, after being immersed into hot water of 70-80°C and quenched, and artificial aging treatment is applied at about 200°C for about 4hr. By this method, the fiber reinforced composite member profitable in the thermal efficiency, the production efficiency and economic point, is obtd.
