Title:
PRODUCTION OF FIBER-REINFORCED COMPOSITE MEMBER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60110831
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent cooling of a molten metal by a bar-shaped fiber molding and generation of an unfilled combining point in the stage of producing a reinforced composite member consisting of the fiber molding as a reinforcing material and a metal by forming the fiber molding into a pipe shape.

CONSTITUTION: A hollow pipe-shaped fiber reinforcing material F is disposed in the rod forming part 5C of a casting cavity of a casting mold M in the stage of producing a connecting rod of an internal-combustion engine of a fiber-reinforced composite member. A molten metal is supplied from a hopper 8 through a supply pipe 9 to a sprue 4 and thereafter the pipe 9 is closed by a seal plunger 10. The plunger 11 is then raised to fill the molten metal in the cavity 5 and a well 14 and while the molten metal is pressurized by pressurizing punches 121W123, the molten metal is solidified. Since the molding F is hollow, the molten metal is filled into the molding F from the longitudinal direction as well as the inside and outside circumferential surfaces thereof. The early solidification of the molten metal owing to cooling by the molding F and generation of an unfilled point are prevented.
