Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably and continuously obtain a thin liquid crystal polyester film having gas-barrier properties by dissolving a thermotropic liquid crystal polyester resin composition in an organic solvent, adding a non-solvent of the composition to the resultant solution and film-forming.
SOLUTION: A composition comprising (A) 56-99wt.% of a thermotropic liquid crystal polyester preferably containing a structural unit expressed by the formula in an amount of ≥30mol% of total and (B) 44-1wt.% of at least one kind of a thermoplastic resin selected from among polycarbonate, a polyester and polymethyl methacrylate, etc., is dissolved in an organic solvent (preferably tetrafluorophenol, etc.) and resultant solution is added with a non-solvent of the composition (preferably acetone, methanol or ethanol) to form a two-phase state, then a film of the composition generated on the interface is taken off. As the component B, an ethylene copolymer having a reaction group reactive with the component A by melt-blending and more preferably an epoxy group- containing ethylene copolymer are exemplified.
