PURPOSE: To obtain the title superfine material useful for the production of an antibacterial composition by adding the aq. alkaline soln. of aluminum hydroxide and aq. alkaline soln. of silicic acid at specified temp. and concn. to water, and heating the obtained mixed soln. contg. an aluminosilicate gel.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Al(OH)3 is added to a commercial 49% aq. NaOH soln., heated, and dissolved to obtain an aq. alkaline soln. of aluminum hydroxide kept at 70W95°C and contg. 20W35wt.% Al(OH)3 and 26W45wt.% alkali such as NaOH (expressed in terms of NaOH). The A component and (B) an aq. alkaline soln. of silicic acid kept at <40°C and contg. 20W29wt.% SiO2 are gradually added, preferably at the same time, to (C) water kept at <40°C and in the amt. 0.5W2.0 times the weight of the (A+B) soln. The obtained mixed soln. contg. an aluminosilicate gel is heated to 80W100°C, kept at this temp. for 1W3hr, and crystallized to obtain the title A-type zeolite, wherein the mean particle diameter is controlled to ≤1.5μm and the maximum particle diameter is adjusted to ≤4μm.
