Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an all-polyimide flexible double-side metal laminated sheet having no adhesive layer such as an epoxy resin by applying thermoplastic polyimide varnish to a base material wherein polyamic acid varnish is directly applied to metal foil and completing imidation reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Thermoplastic polyimide varnish is directly applied to metal foil 1 and, after a solvent is removed, imidation reaction is completed to obtain a base material 2. This base material 2 and metal foil 1 are bonded under heating and pressure to obtain a flexible double-side metal laminated sheet. The kind of the metal foil 1 to be used is not especially limited but, usually, copper, nickel or aluminum is used. In the case of copper foil, both of rolled copper foil and electrolytic copper foil can be used. The thermoplastic polyimide varnish is directly applied to the metal foil 1 by a coater such as a comma- coater, a T-die, a roll coater or a gravure coater.
