PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound useful as a fluorine-containing surfactant with a simple operation in one step and high yield on an industrial scale at a low cost by reacting a salt of (substituted) phenolsulfonic acid, etc., with a perfluoroalkene used as a raw material.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula VI or formula VII can be produced by reacting (A) a salt of a (substituted) phenolsulfonic acid of formula I (R is H or alkali metal; M is alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium residue or pyridinium residue; m is 1 or 2) or a salt of (substituted) naphtholsulfonic acid of formula 11 with (B) a perfluoroalkene of formula CnF2n (n is 6 or 9) (e.g. the compound of formula III, formula IV or formula V) at a molar ratio of 1:(1-1.5) in an aprotic polar solvent such as N,N- dimethylformamide at -40 to 0°C for C6H12 or 10-60°C for C9H18. When the component to be reacted with the compound of formula CnF2n has phenolic OH, the reaction is carried out in the presence of a basic catalyst.
