Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fluorine-containing graft copolymer which is a thermoplastic fluorine-containing copolymer elastomer, improved in compression set resistance characteristics and resultantly suitably usable as a molding material, etc., for a sealing material.
SOLUTION: At least two monomers which are a fluorinated monomer and propylene are copolymerized in the presence of (A) a saturated iodine-containing compound represented by the general formula RIn or an iodine-and bromine- containing compound represented by the general formula InBrmR [R is a fluorohydrocarbon group, a chlorofluorohydrocarbon group, a chlorohydrocarbon group or a hydorcarbon group; (n) and (m) are each 1 or 2] and (B) an unsaturated (fluoro)hydrocarbon containing iodine atom or bromine atom and at leas one monomer which is a fluorinated monomer and ethylene is further graft copolymerized with the resultant copolymer to produce a fluorine-containing graft copolymer.
