Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a foamed polycarbonate resin having smooth surface and high expansion ratio by using a clean and safe foaming agent.
CONSTITUTION: Carbon dioxide gas is pressed into a pressure vessel containing a polycarbonate resin and the temperature in the pressure vessel is maintained at a temperature lower than the glass transition temperature of the polycarbonate resin by ≥50°C to effect the dissolution of carbon dioxide gas into the polycarbonate resin. The temperature in the pressure vessel is raised to ≥100°C and the content of the vessel is discharged to a low-pressure environment to obtain a foamed polycarbonate resin.
