PURPOSE: To uniformly heat a mold to obtain a good molding surface by prefoaming polystyrene beads mixed with a foaming agent to fill a mold with the prefoamed beads and supplying moisture to the mold to perform microwave induction heating.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of the production of a foamed styrene molded object, at first, polystyrene beads mixed with a foaming agent are prefoamed by steam heating. Next, a mold consisting of female and male molds (b), (a) composed of SiC ceramic is packed with the prefoamed beads and moisture is also supplied to the mold and, thereafter, microwave induction heating is performed to fuse the surfaces of the beads to obtain a desired foamed styrene molded object. By utilizing this microwave induction heating, the uniform heating of the mold is enabled to enhance heat efficiency and the sudden expansion of the foamed beads is suppressed in the presence of moisture and the acceleration of the heat conductivity to the mold and the uniform heating of the molding surface are achieved to obtain a good molding surface.
