PURPOSE: A dope of wholly aromatic polyamide is extruded from an orifice into an aqueous coagulation bath and then soaked in another bath of inorganic salt solution to produce high heat-resistant, clarification-loss-free and high luster fibers or films.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A dope of wholly aromatic polyamide, preferably in an organic polar amide solvent, is extruded from an orifice, when necessary, passed through a gaseous medium such as air and led into (B) the first aqueous coagulation bath of water containing N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone or the like, then soaked in (C) the second coagulation bath of aqueous inorganic salt solution, preferably a solution containing more than 6g equiv of calcium chloride or zinc chloride in 1l of water, calculated as the anhydrous salt, to produce the objective formed product. As the component A, a synthetic linear polymer in which more than 85mol% of the recurring units is composed of formula I and/or II (Ar1WAr3 are divalent aromatic ring; R1WR3 are lower alkyl) is preferred.
