Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce methylnaphthalene and dimethylnaphthalenes in a higher yield.
CONSTITUTION: A raffinate after removal of normal paraffin from a hydrogenated and desulfurized kerosine fraction is alkylated by using a light olefin, especially a 3-5C olefin in the presence of a catalyst and subjected to ring formation through dehydration to produce a fraction rich in methylnaphthalene and dimethylnaphthalenes.
