PURPOSE: To inexpensively produce a frictional member for brakes excellent in abrasion resistance, by a method wherein a metallic foil immersed in a resin liquid containing a metallic powder is wound up into a cylindrical body, the body is sliced, and the slices of the body are adhered to a core plate.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic foil 11 is passed through a mixed liquid 13 of a thermoplastic synthetic resin containing the metallic powder 8, thereafter it is continuously wound up around a take-up drum 18 to attain a desired diameter while hardening in a cool air flow the mixed liquid 13 adhered to both sides of the foil 11. Thereafter, the foil 11 is released from the drum 18 to obtain the cylindrical body 20, which is then sliced. The slices of the frictional member 3 are fixed to both sides of the core plate 2 by an adhesive to produce a frictional plate A.
