Title:
PRODUCTION OF GENETICALLY TRANSFORMED CUCUMBER CAPABLE OF MASSIVELY PRODUCING SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3307604
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject plant by culturing the plant tissues together with a microorganism, genetically transformed by the aid of a vector containing a promoter predominantly expressing itself in a cucumber fruit, SOD gene and herbicide-resistant bar gene, and redifferentiating the cultured product.
SOLUTION: This method produces an expression vector for genetically transforming a plant, containing a gene promoter predominantly expressing itself in a cucumber fruit (e.g. ascorbate oxidase promoter), superoxide dismutase (SOD), e.g. the one isolated from cassava or the like, shown by the formula, and herbicide-resistant gene, and then genetically transforms agrobacteria by the aid of the expression vector, to produce a genetically transformed agrobacteria [e.g. Agrobacteria tumefaciens LBA4404 (KCTCO508BP)]. The genetically transformed agrobacteria is cultured together with plant tissues, e.g. those of cucumber, and redifferentiated, to obtain a genetically transformed plant, e.g. cucumber, capable of massively producing SOD, and resistant to herbicide and environmental stresses.
