PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber-reinforced resin improved in the performances thereof by the employment of a small amount of an additive by collecting glass fibers with a fiber-collecting agent, coating the surfaces of the collected fibers with an additive for improving the performances of the resin, cutting the fibers, blending the cut fibers with the resin and subsequently kneading and molding the blended product under heating.
CONSTITUTION: Glass fibers are collected with a fiber-collecting agent (e.g. a polyurethane), coated with an additive (e.g. butyl acrylate resin) for improving the performances (e.g. impact resistance, heat resistance) of the resin and subsequently cut in a short length. The thermoplastic resin (e.g. polycarbonate resin) is blended and kneaded with the cut glass fibers under heating and subsequently molded, whereby the fiber-reinforced resin improved in the performances such as the impact resistance can be produced by the employment of a small amount of the additive.
