PURPOSE: To stably produce the subject product having high quality even after the continuous operation over a long period by passing a paper sheet under a specific pressing condition through a nip part composed of plural metal rolls heated at a specific temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The objective highly smoothed paper is produced by passing a paper sheet under a pressing condition of ≥100kg/cm through a nip part composed of two or more metal rolls, wherein at least one of the metal rolls is heated to a surface-temperature of 80-200°C. The apparatus having the above nip part is e.g. a two-stage calendering machine. The nip part made of metal is preferably placed between the drying stage and the winding stage of the paper machine to dispense with the transportation of paper.
