PURPOSE: To produce a granular polyamide resin having excellent heat resistance and suitable as an adhesive, paint, etc., at a low cost, by reacting a polyisocyanate with a polycarboxylic acid in the presence of a specific non-aqueous organic liquid and a specific dispersion stabilizer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective granular polyamide is produced e.g. by (1) adding (A) a polycarboxylic acid (preferably isophthalic acid) to a homogeneous mixture of (B) the first nonaqueous organic liquid which is nonsolvent of the produced granular polyamide resin (preferably an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon), (C) a dispersion stabilizer soluble in the component B (preferably hydroxylcontaining vinyl polymer), (D) the second nonaqueous organic liquid which dissolves or swells the produced granular polyamide resin and immiscible with the component B (preferably N-methylpyrrolidone) and (E) a polyisocyanate (preferably tolylene diisocyanate, etc.), and (2) separating the obtained granular polyamide resin dispersed in the component B by filtration or decantation.
