Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the sticking of a melt and granules to the surface of the wall of a granulator and the wear of the surface of the wall or the granules by feeding a cooling medium and granulating the melt with a Coanda spiral flow to produce the granules.

CONSTITUTION: A Coanda spiral flow producing device 1 is connected to a duct 2 and a cooling medium pressurized by a compressor 4 is fed from a circular slit 3 to produce a Coanda spiral flow. A melt is introduced into the device 1 from a melting vessel 5, transferred through the duct 2 and granulated. Separators 6, 7 are arranged at the outlet of the duct 2 to separate the resulting granules from the cooling medium. The cooling medium is recovered from separation pipes 8, 9 and the granules are recovered from a recovery pipe 10. The separated cooling medium may be recycled.
