Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a high carbon electric resistance welded tube having high strength and high workability by subjecting a high carbon steel plate, containing specific amounts of C, Si, Mn, P, S, and B, to graphitization of cementite, forming it into an electric resistance welded tube, and applying heat treatment to it at specific temp.

CONSTITUTION: A plate of a high carbon steel, having a composition consisting of 0.30-0.80% C, ≤0.30% Si, 0.10-0.50% Mn, ≤0.020% P, ≤0.010%, S, ≤0.0050% B, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, is heat-treated at 650-780°C for ≥4hr, by which cementite in ferrite is graphitized and a metallic structure consisting of ferrite, graphite, and cementite is formed. Then, the high carbon steel plate provided with workability is formed into an electric resistance welded tube and heat-treated at a temp. between 500°C and <A1 transformation point. By this method, the high carbon electric resistance welded tube with high workability, which is capable of softening an electric resistance welded zone without deterioration in workability in a base material part and capable of securing high strength, can be obtained.
