Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce high-molecular-weight styrene resins different in molecular weight distribution with high productivity.
CONSTITUTION: In polymerization equipment consisting of two complete mixing reactors connected in parallel and a post polymerization unit provided with a plurality of plug flow reactors, a styrene monomer is continuously fed into those two complete mixing reactors to effect polymerization, and a polymeric liquid discharged from the reactors and mixed with ethylbenzene is introduced into the post polymerization unit, where the conversion is raised to complete polymerization.
