Abstract:
To provide a producing method of a high nitrided steel, by which the high nitrided steel can be obtd. by effectively absorbing and adding nitrogen in atmosphere into molten steel under a nitrogen atmosphere even in a low pressure.
The gaseous nitrogen is introduced into the inner part of a closed chamber 10 provided with an arc furnace 12 in the inner part, and arc is directly generated between a base material electrode 18 having the same kind of composition as that of target steel but excepting the nitrogen component, and molten target steel 16 without interposing slag under the nitrogen atmosphere, and thus, high nitrogen steel is obtd. by absorbing the nitrogen into the molten steel 16 while melting the base material electrode 18.
