Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject ion exchange resin having both specified phosphorus content and cation exchange capacity, capable of selectively adsorbing lithium ion, excellent in highly selective adsorptivity, thus useful as a solid catalyst, etc., by reaction of a specific crosslinked copolymer with phosphoric acid at a specified temperature.

CONSTITUTION: A crosslinked copolymer mainly consisting of (α-carbon- substituted) acrylic glycidyl ester and allyl glycidyl ether is directly reacted with phosphoric acid either in an open system or suction system at 100-160°C to obtain the objective ion exchange resin having 7-15wt.% phosphorus content and 5-10meq./g cation exchange capacity.
