Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce and remove an oligomer component remaining in polyarylene sulfide (PAS).
CONSTITUTION: PAS is kept in molten state using a bent type extruder having a heating apparatus and simultaneously an organic solvent is injected into the extruder. Thereby, an oligomer component in PAS is separated and discharged and removed from a bent port together with the solvent vapor to produce the objective high-purity PAS. This method enables effective removal of the oligomer component in PAS, suppression of generated gas in molding and improvement of surface state of moldings and molding workability.
