Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable simple production of synthetic resin emulsion which has excellent heat resistance, adhesion and high stability because of low viscosity despite high solid content, by effecting emulsion polymerization of vinyl monomer mixture using a reactive emulsifier in the presence of a specific coagulant.
CONSTITUTION: In the presence of a coagulant in an amount of 0.01 to 3wt.% of the total weight of a vinyl monomer mixture which comprises mainly acrylic acid esters and contains 0.1 to 12wt.% of unsaturated carboxylic acid, emulsion polymerization is effected using a reactive emulsifier represented by formulas I to V (R1, R3, R5 are hydrocarbon which may be substituted; R2, R4, R6 are hydrogen, methyl; M is Na, NH; A is 2 to 4 C alkylene; X is hydrogen, nonionic or anionic hydrophilic group; m is O to 100) to give a synthetic resin emulsion of 65 to 85wt.% solid content.
