Abstract:

PURPOSE: To economically produce an Mo-added steel plate for structural purpose excellent in the low temp. toughness of both base metal and weld heat affected zone(HAZ) with good productivity.

CONSTITUTION: In the process of rolling finished in such a manner that the temp. of the slab of Mo-added steel for structural purpose heated to 1000 to <1200°C after the completion of solidification is regulated to the Ar3 point or above, cooling satisfying the cooling velocity V>(18/t)0.5 with the plate thickness (t) is executed. The production of the steel plate for structural purpose having excellent base metal toughness and HAZ toughness is enabled without using the addition of alloys, waiting for the temp. of rolling, rolling under low temp. heating, rolling under reheating or the like which have inevitably been used in the process of the conventional rolling, by which the productivity of this kind of steel plate can be increased and its production cost can remarkably be reduced.
