Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily produce a high quality and high tensile strength electric resistance welded tube at a low cost by executing heat treatment in a specific temp. condition after production an electric resistance welded tube by using a hot-rolled steel sheet having a specific composition as a base stock.
CONSTITUTION: A steel slab containing, by wt., 0.09-0.18% C, 0.25-0.45% Si, 0.70-1.00% Mn, 0.20-0.40% Cu, 0.05-0.80% Ni, 0.50-0.80% Cr, 0.10-0.40% Mo and <0.002% S is hot-rolled at AR3-950°C rolling finish temp. and wound at 400°C-600°C. This steel sheet is formed to a tube-shape and its butting-joined part is welded by the electric resistance welding method to produce the steel tube. This electric resistance welded tube is rapidly heated at 3°C/sec temp. raising speed in a heating furnace (a) and after applying the heat treatment to heat in the temp. range of >750°C to <950°C, the tube is water-cooled at a cooling zone (b), and successively, wound up into a coil-state with a take-up device (c) and held for a fixed time in a heat retaining device (d). The electric resistance welded tube having yield strength of ≥700N/mm2, tensile strength of ≥800N/mm2 and ≥15% elongation can easily be produced.
