Title:
PRODUCTION OF HIGHLY DISPERSIBLE ALUMINA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH08268714
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain highly dispersible alumina by adding an alcohol soln. to an aq. aluminum hydroxide slurry prepd. by a neutralization decomposition method, dispersing the aluminum hydroxide and drying it.
CONSTITUTION: An alcohol soln. is added to an aq. aluminum hydroxide slurry prepd. by a neutralization decomposition method or a hydrous aluminum hydroxide cake formed by filtering the aq. aluminum hydroxide slurry and the aluminum hydroxide is dispersed and then dried to obtain the objective highly dispersible alumina. The alcohol soln. preferably contains an alcohol having ≥100°C b.p. and the pref. alcohol is, e.g. 1-butanol, 1-hexanol, 1-octanol, ethylene glycol or glycerol.
