Abstract:

To provide a simple and efficient method for producing a highly pure alkyl cyclohexanol useful as a raw material for a surfactant.

This method for hydrogenating a corresponding alkylphenol to produce an alkylcyclohexanol of the formula (R1 is a 6-20C alkyl) comprises distilling the product comprising the alkylcyclohexanol of the formula obtained by the hydrogenation in the coexistence of a basic compound.
