PURPOSE: To produce an inexpensive hot rolled mild steel sheet having a high r-value by subjecting a low-carbon aluminum killed steel to circumferential speed rolling, etc., of a high draft at a specific temp. and forming a ferrite structure in the cooling process, then subjecting the steel further to rolling and recrystallization treatments.

CONSTITUTION: The low-carbon aluminum killed steel contg. ≤0.08% C is subjected to the differential circumferential speed rolling at different circumferential speeds of upper and lower rolls or ≥1 passes of high draft reduction at ≥40% reduction ratio per pass by skew rolling having a crossing angle with upper and lower rolls at Ar3 point + 120°C W Ar3 point to induce a dynamic recrystallization uniformly in the material to be rolled and to form the finer γ rains. The steel sheet is thereafter cooled down to a prescribed temp. and the uniform and fine α grains are formed in the cooling process to obtain the structure contg. ≥70vol.% ferrite. The steel sheet is then subjected to secondary rolling to execute ≥2 passes of rolling including the final pass at ≥450°C to attain ≥50% total draft within 2sec between the passes, by which the required strains are imparted to the steel sheet. The steel sheet is thereafter subjected to the recrystallization treatment. The hot rolled steel sheet having the high r-value and the excellent workability is thus obtd.
