To obtain a new vector, having a DNA capable of coding a prathyroid hormone and a gene containing a DNA, operably bonded thereto and capable of coding a Saccharomyces mating factor alpha 1 and useful for transforming a microbial host and expressing and producing the parathyroid hormone.
This new vector has a DNA capable of coding a parathroid hormone(PTH) containing a nucleotide sequence of the formula, etc., and a gene containing a DNA, operably bonded thereto and capable of coding a Saccharomyces mating factor alpha 1 and is capable of transforming a microbial host, expressing the parathyroid hormone and secreting the parathyroid hormone. The vector is useful for the stable production, etc., of a yeast, etc., of a nontoxic human parathyroid hormone effective in treatment of osteoporosis, measurement of the parathyroid hormone level in humans or animals, treatment, etc., of an abnormality in blood calcium level using the microbial host.
