Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compounds in high selectivity from carbon tetrachloride of broad concentration range by using a metallocatalyst prepared by carrying a specific catalytic component on a carrier having specific average pore radius.

CONSTITUTION: In the presence of (A) a catalyst carrying platinum on a carrier ≥25 in average pore radius (pref. silica-alumina, alumina, esp. pref. alumina), (B) carbon tetrachloride is reacted with (C) hydrogen in a liquid phase to obtain (D) the objective hydrochloromethanes. The catalyst may be the one carrying Pd on a carrier ≥50 in average pore radius. It is preferable that the amount of the catalytic component to be carried on the carrier be 0.01-10 (esp. pref. 0.1-5)wt.%.
