To obtain a hydrogensiloxane copolymer having mixed functional groups by copolymerizing a cyclic siloxane and a specific siloxane rich in hydrogen in the presence of a Lewis acid as a catalyst.
A hydrogen-contg. organosiloxane polymer is produced by using a silanolate catalyst for the ring-opening polymn. of a cyclic organosiloxane in a reactor and by introducing a phosphorus nitride chloride catalyst and a hydrogencontg. organosiloxane for redistribution and condensation reaction into the same reactor. The process is disclosed by an example as follows: 229.55g of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, 1.92g of decamethylsiloxane, and 0.27g of KOB (in the form of a 4.3 wt. % soln. in a low-molecular polydimethylsiloxane oil) are charged into a reactor, heated and kept at 150°C for 3hr, and cooled to 80-90 1.62g of a 2wt.% soln. of phosphorus nitride chloride in a polydimethylsiloxane oil is added to the resultant product, which is then stirred at the same temp. for 1hr; and 2.23g of a linear silicone hydrogenation product polymer having a concn. of a hydrogeneation product of 1.62wt.% is added to the above-obtd. product, which is then stirred at the same temp. for 2hr.
