Abstract:

To obtain a hydroxyester useful as a raw material for medicines or agrochemicals by a simple operation by the use of a simple apparatus under mild conditions by reacting a diol with an acid halide in the presence of a base and a specific catalyst.

This method for producing a hydroxyester comprises reacting (A) a diol (for example, 1,2-cyclohexanediol) with (B) an acid halide (for example, benzoyl chloride) in the coexistence of (C) a dialkylhanogenotin compound (for example, dimethyldichlorotin) and (D) a base (for example, potassium carbonate having a specific surface area in the range of 0. 8-3 m2/g). For example, 1 mole of the component A is reacted with about 1.0-0.8 mole of the component B in the coexistence of about 0.0001-0.2 mole of the component C and about 0.9-4 moles of the component D at a reaction temperature in the range of -10 to 50°C for about 0.1-100 hr.
