PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain the subject compd. in high yield which is useful as an antioxidant, lubricant, hydraulic fluid or the like by reacting each a specified, carboxylic acid ester and an alcohol in the presence of a specified catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. expressed by formula II (R1, R2 are each H, a 1-2C alkyl, phenyl or the like; R3 is H, methyl; (m) is 0 to 3; R is a 1-4C alkyl) is reacted with a compd. expressed by formula III [A is OR4 (R4 is a 2-5C alkyl, a 5-12C cycloalkyl, a 2-18C alkenyl or the like) or the like; (n) is 1 to 4 or 6] in the presence of a catalyst to obtain the objective compd. expressed by formula IV. The catalyst used contains an alkali metal compd. expressed by formula I (M is Li, Na or the like; (m) is the valence of An, An is a fluoride, hydroxide or the like) and an alkaline material as a carrier, such as oxides, hydroxides or aluminates of alkaline earth metals showing pH>10 measured in an aq. suspension having a conc. of 10 wt.% or higher.
