PURPOSE: The reductive amination between the carboxyl group of a dicarboxylic acid corresponding the objective compound, a new substance with an amino group protected and another amine corresponding to the objective compound is conducted to achieve practical production of the titled compound which is used as an antiulcerative.
CONSTITUTION: The reductive amination between the carboxyl group of a compound of formula I (m is integer of 2W5), a novel compound with a protected amino group of formula II (X is amino-protecting group; Y is carboxyl-protecting group) and an amine of formula III (n is 1, 2, 3) is carried out using a reducing agent such as sodium cyanoborohydride or by catalytic hydrogenation. Then, the resultant compound of formula IV is subjected to deprotection and decarboxylation in usual manners to achieve practical mass-production of the objective compound of formula V which can be expected to have a variety of physiological activities such as antiulcerative, antithrombotic, antimold and other activities and is used as an intermediate of a variety of imidazole derivatives.
