Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic vinyl-based resin useful as parts of household electric appliances, etc., having excellent impact resistance and excellent appearance characteristics, having dispersed rubber particles with specific particle diameter by subjecting an aromatic vinyl compound to graft polymerization in the presence of a specific butadiene-based (co)polymer. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic vinyl compound (preferably styrene) is subjected to graft polymerization in the presence of a butadiene-based (co)polymer which has 50-80% coupling ratio with a halogenated silicon compound, molecular weight distribution of two peaks, a ratio of Mw/Mn of peak of high molecular- weight side to Mw/Mn of peak of low molecular weight side of >=1.05 when weight-average molecular weight is Mw and number-average molecular weight is Mn, <=100cps viscosity of 5wt.% styrene solution at 25 deg.C, 0-20wt.% styrene content and <=30wt.% vinyl bond content of butadiene part to give an aromatic vinyl-based resin comprising dispersed rubber particles having 0.3-1.4mum dispersed rubber particles.
