Abstract:
PURPOSE: To effectively produce poly(glycidyl nitrate) capable of being easily and simply cured in order to obtain an improved binder for a solid high energy compsn.
CONSTITUTION: When a catalyst-initiator complex is reacted with glycidyl nitrate, a molar ratio of hydroxyl in catalyst/initiator is set to <1:1 and a glycldyl nitrate monomer is added to the catalyst-initiator complex reaction mixture at a speed so that the monomer is consumed (reacted) at almost substantially same speed at a time of addition and reaction temp. is held to a temp. range of about 10-25°C to produce poly(glycidyl nitrate) having functionality substantially equal to that of the used initiator.
