Abstract:
New non-immunogenic conjugates (I), suitable for suppressing the formation of reaginic antibodies in a host are described. They consist of the hosts own gamma-globulin (II) to which are attached, 4.3-19 (pref. 9-12) benzylpenicilloyl (BPO)gps. (I) are prepd. by reacting penicillin (III) in presence of a salt at about pH 9.8 with (II). The conjugates are useful for suppressing penicillin allergy in sensitive patients. The simultaneous administration of anti-allergic cpds. and/or monovalent conjugates such as benzoylpenicilloyl-formyl lysine is avoided. Reaction of 60mg penicillin G with 50 mg mouse (II) in 10 ml 0.5M K2CO3, followed by removal of unreacted penicillin, gave after gel filtration a conjugate with 12 BPO gps. per molecule.
