PURPOSE: To make a wooden sheet incombustible while retaining the excellent characteristics of the conventional wooden cement sheet by dipping wood in alkali silicate soln., beating the wood into small pieces, depositing a binder such as cement and a combustion inhibitor on the periphery of the piece, forming the mixture, curing, and drying the formed product.
CONSTITUTION: Wood is dipped in the soln. of ≥1 kind among alkali silicate, hydrated silicic acid, colloidal silica, and silica gel, and then the wood is beated into small pieces. A binder such as cement, gypsum, and magnesium carbide and a combustion inhibitor are deposited on the periphery of the piece. The pieces are cast or press-formed, cured, and dried. A burning rate controlling substance (e.g., antimony trioxide, lead monoxide, barium sulfate, etc.) and a calorific power controlling substance (e.g., aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, gypsum dihydrate, etc.) are preferably used in combination with each other as the combustion inhibitor.
