To provide a highly practical method for finishing coat using a base coat which has a nonvolatile component for dense-coating and can provide a set coating film excellent in metal orientation and peeling property, to obtain a resin composition for coating materials for the base coat, and to provide a method for producing a nonaqueous dispersion type resin to be contained in the composition.
This method for producing the above resin comprises subjecting a monomer mixture comprising a vinyl-based monomer and a compound adapted to provide an intra-particle cross-linkage to nonaqueous dispersion copolymerization in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer comprising a polyester resin soluble in organic solvent and producing dispersion particles each having the intra-particle cross-linkage of the monomer mixture. Another objective composition comprises (B) thus obtained internally cross-linked nonaqueous type resin, (A) a hydroxy group-containing polyester resin soluble in organic solvent, and (C) a amino resin soluble in organic solvent. Another objective method for finishing coat is to use a base coat comprising the composition.
